About

The Nicktoons Network Animation Festival (NNAF) was founded in 2004 to showcase the diversity of worldwide animation filmmaking and is the largest multiplatform animation festival in North America. The festival features the best animated shorts (10 minutes and under) from around the globe. Shorts selected for the festival have the opportunity to be featured on-air, online and to be showcased at the festival’s live event.

2008 was the 5th year of the Nicktoons Animation Festival and proved to be bigger than ever!

We received hundreds of entries from all over the globe including Canada, South Korea, Turkey, Mexico, Malaysia, Portugal, Israel, and Pakistan, just to name a few. The 2008 Grand Prize Nick Development Award winner was Sung Eun Kim for her short Boogie and Diggie. She also was awarded the Student Award in partnership with mtvU. The 2008 Grand Jury winner was Min Chung Cho for her short "El Mono" and the Producers’ Choice Award went to Glenn Harmon and Ben Porter for "Pajama Gladiator". To view all the winning shorts please visit our "View Shorts" page.

NNAF 2008 offered more ways to enter the festival than ever before! For our budding young animators under 18 we had our Greater Creator Contest! The Grand Prize winner was fifteen-year-old Jabril M., for his entry "Chicken Herder". For a full list of all the Greater Creator winners check out our contest page.

New to the festival in 2008 was the "I Got Game" Contest in partnership with AddictingGames. Contestants entered their ideas for a game character with the chance to see their creation become a free online game on addictinggames.com. The "I Got Game" winning character illustration was "Dib's Adventure to Mount Wafers" by Lauren K.

Also new to NNAF in 2008 was the "Built By Me" Movie Contest in partnership with LEGO. Garrett Barati’s Grand Prize winning short "Play Nice", won $25k and the opportunity to create a brand new original animated short using LEGO bricks. To see the list of all the LEGO winners check out the contest page here.

Our NNAF two-day live event at the Nickelodeon Studios in Burbank was also a great hit! Over 300 animators and industry professionals attended Creator Night, with the same amount of kids and families attending Kids Day. For a more detailed recap of the live event and to see pictures from both days, click here.

All of our festival finalists were showcased on-air throughout the entire month of October, and all of the prize winners were announced during the 'Nicktoons Network Animation Festival Winner’s Night Special' on October 30th. All of the shorts are also featured online through out the year.
